CREATING AN INSPIRING VISION BOARD | THE HOW & WHY
I love to do arts and crafts more than anything in the word. Alongside with petting my lil’ puppy.🐶
Creating vision boards is one of my favorite things to do. I first heard about them whilst reading a book where the main character did one in order to get her life back under control. Immediately loved the idea! The following day I tried it myself and was surprised to see what I came up with.
Hope that the same thing happens to you, too. In other words, I genuinely hope I can help you to get clear on your intentions and get the life you want.
WHAT IS A VISION BOARD?
A vision board is a place for you to gather inspirational quotes, pictures and colors that are connected to your goals. They are all pinned to one board at a place where you are always able to see it. For example, if I’d like to be a famous actor in the future, my vision board would be filled with pictures of Julia Roberts, my favorite movies and cameras.A vision board is a place for you to gather inspirational quotes, pictures and colors that are connected to your goals. The purpose behind it all?
To get the motivation to push yourself a little further every day. The board is a quick reminder of all the things you want to achieve in life, and seeing it every day helps you to focus on your goals and intentions.
HOW DO I CREATE A VISION BOARD?
STEP 1| INTENTIONS
Before we are able to gather content that inspires us, we first have to know what our intentions are for this year or even our whole life. Don’t panic, you don’t need to have everything figured out. In case you don’t have any goals (I absolutely hate them!), think about the way you want to feel in your life. Happy, inspired or excited? What colors or pictures do represent those feelings?
STEP 2| GATHERING CONTENT
Gather old magazines that are lying around all over your apartment and flip through them. Rip out the pieces that make you feel something or that are connected to your goals or intentions. It doesn’t matter if it is a beautiful picture, a nice color and a quote that inspires you.
Cut out the pieces you like or even create your own content. A drawing from your childhood, a family portrait or a lil’ puppy. All amazing things to put on your board if it creates a feeling inside you.
REMEMBER: The vision board is not supposed to be art or pretty. It is made to inspire and motivate you on a daily basis. Besides, no-one even cares what it looks like!
STEP 3| PUTTING YOUR VISION BOARD TOGETHER
When you have all your pieces together, try to place them on your board. But don’t put them on there just yet! Move the images around several times to see which ones work together and which not. You are not obligated to use all your pictures if they don’t look stunning next to each other. Store the left overs in a box and use them for different projects.
When you are satisfied with your work, it’s time to finish this project up. Use glue or pins to attach your images to the board. And, TADAAAAA! Finally, it’s done! Congratulations!
Quite easy, right? I’d LOVE to know what you think about vision boards and if they actually help you to stay motivated. However, feel free to change your images when your goals are changing or when you’re not feeling inspired by looking at it anymore.
